In 2002, I was faced with the day that every pet owner dreads. I knew the time had come to make that last trip to the veterinarian's office. When I arrived and ask about being with her for this final “procedure”, I was told that it would be better if I were not with her. In fact, I was told to “pull your car around to the side and we'll bring her out to you”. The wait, although just a few minutes, seemed like hours.
As a funeral home owner, I knew that I wanted to have a funeral for Chelsea, so the next day, she was placed in an infant casket and a few friends and our favorite chaplain gathered at the pet cemetery for a gravesite service.
We knew then, that there needed to be an option for pet parents that wasn't being offered, and we vowed that day to find a way to help other pet parents say good-bye to their beloved companion in a more meaningful way.
We pledge to you, the Pet Parent, that we will help you create a way to say good-bye that will honor your family member and build wonderful memories that will eventually replace the darkness of grief.

Chelsea's Fund, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was developed to assist pet parents that need financial assistance with their pet's final days, and to promote and educate the public on services available for end-of-life, in-home care for their beloved pet. We believe that no pet should spend their final days in pain, be abandoned, or left alone to be tossed in the landfill, just because the pet parent can't afford treatment.
All donations are tax-deductible. You can make a donation by mailing your check, payable to Chelsea's Fund, to 9463 Benbrook Blvd., Ste 130, Fort Worth, TX 76126 or by clicking on the following link:
